Surprise Proposals - The Cost, The Plan, The Execution
One of the most exhilarating moments; where adrenaline is running high, and your mind is playing out as many scenarios all at the same time. The last thing I would ever want a client to worry about is “how do I make sure this moment gets captured?”. I live for these moments!
I firmly believe that the only thing my client should ever worry about is being at the location, and popping that life-changing question. I do my best to take care of the rest.
The Cost: I understand many of my clients have strict allowances, and I may not fit every one of their budgets. But I wanted to clarify, that, proposals are just as quick and important as the first kiss at the altar. I have been capturing surprise proposals for quite a while, and I’ve learned how to predict when the question will be popped so that I dont miss a beat of the action. Even before the knee starts to bend, I am at the ready. Knowing this event will be one of the most important for the couple; having someone seasoned, and knows what to expect before it even happens is critical. My clients can be rest assured that I wont be fidgeting with my settings, or scrambling to get a better angle, and ultimately missing the moment or dropping the ball.
The Planning: Does every surprise proposal go according to plan? I’d be lying if I said yes. I try to iron out every single detail I can during out consultation to make sure I’m at the exact spot I need to be without being noticed, but there is still a slight chance that certain plans may not go accordingly. Things such as bystanders walking into my line of sight, the weather decides to become temperamental, or the lighting has shifted more than we thought are always possibilities. I can tell you that I’ve done enough proposals to try and mitigate any potential problems within my control; and if you’ve worked with me before, you know that I keep my communication crystal clear and open! I also arrive at least 30 minutes or more before the scheduled time as an additional insurance, all the while, sharing my location to my fellow iPhone users.
The Execution: Regardless if there’s an uncontrollable variable that disrupts the moment, I carry the same “calm in the storm” demeanor as I do with all the other important events that I capture. I keep communication crystal clear throughout the process. As a safety, I will always ask my clients if they are ok with a staged proposal as well. This is meant to deliver a cleaner set of images if there are hinderances during the actual proposal. This may or may not be needed!
After all is said and done, by hiring me for your surprise proposal, you can confidently know that this special once in a lifetime moment will be one where you won’t have to worry. You can just focus on being in the moment!
